The No.6 Fore plane sits between a ‘Jack’ and a ‘Jointer’ and is able to perform either role. The wider blade and weight gives more heft when preparing or flattening large surfaces, such as panels and table tops. The extra length ensures greater accuracy when truing long edges. The Faithfull No. 6 has a grey cast iron body for strength and stability. The base and sides are ground flat and square. The lever cap has a brass locking screw, enabling easy release for sharpening the blade. The plane features both depth and lateral blade adjustment. A wooden handle and tote complete the No. 6. Note: Faithfull planes represent excellent value for money. As such they may not be quite as refined as more expensive examples. A little work sharpening the blade and maybe some minor fettling will be most rewarding. Blade width: 60mm, overall length: 457mm.
