Sedgwick's First Grade English Bridle Butt leather... Arguably the best strap leather in the world, this cut is especially known for its strength, durability, density and lustre. Obtained from the supplier with the Royal Warrant, we will still reject anything we are not happy with. Taking that into account, leather is still a natural material so some slight marking and colour variation are to be expected. As this belt is worn in, in a similar way to wearing in new boots and shoes, the leather will react to the natural oils in your hands, and to your body heat, becoming more supple over time, molding to the shape of the wearer and developing a glorious natural patina. The result is a wonderfully personal accessory which could not possibly be purchased in a newly made state, thus making it a firm favourite for years to come. ... the brass buckle... Being perfectionists, we set ourselves the difficult task of improving on our classic, high quality, sandcast brass buckles. We achieved this by designing our own buckle, exclusive to Notonthehighstreet.com, and used the lost wax casting method. This is a more expensive process but being cleaner and more accurate than sand casting, it does result in that fine attention to detail, apparent in the finished article. The stainless steel tongue is added as a final touch, for aesthetics and extra strength, and as a nod to the family connection to the traditional English Saddlery trade. For more information on our traditional skills and the difference between 'handmade' and 'hand-machined' please see our profile link above right. ... personalisation Bespoke TBM belts can be personalised with a message of up to 3 lines on the 3.8cm and 2.9cm widths or 2 lines on the 3.3cm and 3.8cm widths; approx 10 characters per line, depending on the characters used, ie. 'M' and 'W' take up more space then 'I' and '!'. This service is an additional £9.95 and we are happy to help you with character spacing and special character availability. We have a variety of puctuation symbols and even lower case 'x' for kisses. The message can be positioned after the buckle and keepers (hidden when fastened) or after the holes at the other end of the strap. The standard direction of text appears so that the recipient wears their belt with the strap end pointing to the right as you look at them; please select your options in the order menu. This will avoid the message or initials being displayed upside down. Thanks, and we look forward to hearing from you! .
