Overview

The Flair 79 delivers sporty performance for fatigue-free days on the slopes. 3D.Ridge technology gives the ski extra grip and control without losing any of the smooth handling that comes from having tip and tail rocker. The 79mm waist ensures versatility, so it can carve down the steepest, firmest runs and flow effortlessly through fresh snow. The Dual Woodcore XL adds strength; a steel laminate provides stability when the conditions aren’t perfect. Terrain Type & Ability LevelTerrain Type All mountain with a heavy piste bias. Cruise blues, attack reds and challenge yourself on some black runs, or find some adventure away from the prepared runs and look for trees, fresh snow, bumps and packed conditions. It will turn and carve with the best piste skis and, when the runs get cut-up and messy, it remains calm and smooth while the others start to feel less balanced in the trickier snow.Skier TypeAdvanced skiers and stronger intermediates who want a ski with good grip. It’s not hard to use but it does feel precise and responsive, suiting skiers with decent skills. Not every turn needs to be carved and, as a ski with an all mountain background, the initiation and release are smooth meaning it isn’t a tiring ski.OverviewShapeIt has piste shaping with wider dimensions, not so wide that it feels sluggish on marked runs but enough for extra stability. The shape goes right into the tip and tail to create a long effective edge for good grip and precise handling. Rocker means that it doesn’t feel grabby or twitchy.RockerXTD Tip and Tail Rocker uses a unique shape with a longer rocker profile compared to traditional tip and tail rocker. There is a short camber underfoot for grip and response; the shovel is firmer, and tip and tail rocker aids turn initiation and release.CoreThe Dual Woodcore XL uses a PU construction with a large wooden core. A steel layer in the ski provides good durability, controlled flex and smooth skiing at faster speeds.ConstructionCentre Sidewall construction provides direct and strong power transmission with partial sidewalls in the centre of the ski, combined with the super-slim 3D.Ridge construction.Key Features3D.RidgeThis new manufacturing process makes precise power transmission, as well as liveliness and energy, accessible with minimal effort. The carbon fibres are no longer incorporated as a uniform fleece but now integrated through a stitching procedure in such a way that their orientation and strength meet the functional requirements of each part of the ski. Since the performance of a ski is largely determined by the behaviour in the tip and tail areas, the carbon fibres are concentrated in the front and back third of the ski, where they provide direct benefits. With reliable power transmission, the ski can be controlled precisely and directly, allowing the skier to access previously unknown levels of performance.eB tester’s comments: Florrie (Covent Garden) I took it out in the morning on hard-pack/ice and I loved it! Quick to carve, stuck like glue through the turn and enjoyed a bit of speed.Technical SpecificationsSize (cm)Tip Width (mm)Waist Width (mm)Tail Width (mm)Radius (m)Weight (g)1561297910912.726111631297910914.11590General InformationSkier Ability: Intermediate/Advanced/expertTerrain Type: All Mountain Rocker: Tip/Tail RockerRadius: ShortBase: SinteredBindings: Integrated, iPT WR XL 11 TCX GW LadyDIN: 3 - 11Construction: Full SidewallCore: Wood, Composite, Steel LaminateDemo: YesSizing Description: Nose level to forehead height is ideal, but longer length is important if there is a bigger rocker or you’re spending more time off piste where the extra stability and float a larger size provides will be beneficial.
