However, at heart, the Custom X is still a freestyle board. So to help it deliver a more balanced freestyle friendly ride, Burton gives it a more playful Twin Flex. Now to ensure the Custom provides rock-solid edge hold, it features the innovative Frost Bite edges. Frostbite edges extend out slightly beneath your bindings for tremendous edge-hold on hard, icy conditions and are powerful when you need them and playful when you don’t.Profile: CamberAs the Custom X is all about high performance, anything other than a traditional camber would be pointless. Delivering a poppy ride, powerful turns and rock-solid stability, it’s the camber that brings the Custom alive. Camber distributes weight evenly over the entire length of the board for smooth, continuous edge control from tip to tail.ConstructionAs one of the most advanced snowboards on the market, the Custom X is all about its construction, and heading this up is the FSC™ Certified Dragonfly™ 600G Core with Multizone eGD™ and Squeezebox. This state of the art profiled wood core uses end-grain woods in impact zones, allowing the designers to reduce weight by using lighter woods in the rest of the board without sacrificing strength. To fine-tune this even further, the wood grain is turned perpendicular to the rest of the core in four separate zones adjacent to edges. This increases power transfer direct to the sidecut, increasing edge control and speeding up response. Also, carbon fleece is integrated into the core, layered just outside the feet. This enables almost instant reaction in the tip and tail. When it comes to the structural layers, once again, the Custom X leads the way. These are formed from Burton’s unique 45° Carbon Highlights glass. This high-performance Tri-Ax glass optimises each layer of the fibreglass matrix and adds a full tip-to-tail carbon layer to reduce weight and fine tune torsional flex to achieve the optimum riding characteristics. The Custom X, also adds carbon strands to the angled fibre layers to add life and reduce weight.Base: Sintered WFOTo deliver a super-fast glide in all conditions, the Custom X uses Burtons exclusive Sintered WFO Base. This unique base material Infuses a specially formulated wax deep into the pores of this extra-absorbent, high-density sintered material.
