Overview
THe POWDeR BOARD OF CHOICe UPGRADeD for 20/21The 2021 Lib-Tech T.Rice Orca has very quickly established itself as the go-to Powder board. Hailing from within Lib-Tech's unique expriMeNTAL collection, this high-performance short/wide directional board combines state of the art design and manufacturing to deliver truly stunning performance. Now even though the Orca is classed as a powder board, thanks to its advanced shape, versatile C2 Banana Technology and new for 2021 HP construction, it's way more than that. Unlike the majority of its competitors, the Orca is one board you'd be happy to ride all day and every day. The way it rides both on the piste or when playing around is nothing short of remarkable. So, if you're after a board that combines pow ripping performance with the resort slashing versatility of a daily driver, you won't go far wrong strapping an Orca to your feet.Rider Style: Powder/Freeride experienced riders who are looking for that unique experience in both the pow and on the piste that you only get with short/wide boards.Shape Overview: DirectionalThe Orca's unique directional shape is designed to deliver the ultimate float in powder. Sacrificing length for width and utilising a state of the art powder focussed nose and tail shape, Lib-Tech creates a board that is nimble under the feet, but thanks to that increased surface area is almost unsinkable. Now to ensure that the Orca doesn't feel slow and cumbersome with that increased width it features a tight 7m Magne Traction sidecut. This innovative sidecut features seven strategically located edge serrations along the length. These add extra traction points to the edges ensuring that you get unrivalled edge hold and control.Profile: C2x Hybrid Rocker/CamberAs this board is all about versatility, Lib-Tech fit it with their C2x hybrid Rocker/Camber profile. This places shortened rocker between your feet with extended powerful cambers to the tips and tails. This delivers the perfect balance of power, pop and precision while enhancing float in deep pow. Also, those aggressive cambers work in perfect harmony with the Magna Traction sidecut to give a solid and confidence-inspiring feeling through the turn.ConstructionFor 20/21 Lib-Tech have stepped up the construction a notch ensuring the Orca stays ahead of the game. Out goes the original OP + construction and in comes the powerful Horsepower HP construction. Heading this up is advanced Aspen/Paulownia HP core. This super-light wood core increases the % of lightweight Paulownia compared to other cores in the line reducing the overall board weight substantially. However, thanks to the addition of Birch rails running parallel to the edges, Lib-Tech minimise the impact of having a higher percentage of lighter wood by directly adding power into the sidecut. Weight is shaved from both the nose and tail via the HP thin tip construction which reduces swing weight and gives the board more of a balanced feel. The addition of Basalt stringers integrated into the tri-ax, and bi-ax glass structural layers also add an extra dimension to the flex ensuring that even though the Orca is light, it never feels compromised when out on the mountain.Insert: OP ConstructionBase: SinteredTo ensure that the Orca delivers excellent performance in all conditions Lib-Tech fit it with their high quality sintered base.
