ALL-NeW FReeRIDe CHARGeR FOR HARD RIDeRSThe 2021 Bataleon Thunder is a new addition to the Bataleon line up for this season and is aimed squarely at the all-terrain freerider. Sharing much of its D.N.A. with the highly acclaimed Storm, the Thunder is equally at home charging around groomers as it is hitting up the backcountry; making it the perfect choice for riders who want to get out and about around the mountain. Built around a state of the art fully directional shape, it utilises Bataleons all-terrain specific Freeride 3BT base profile to deliver stunning performance no matter what or where you ride. To ensure that the Thunder lives up to its hype, it utilises a combination of high-quality materials and high-end manufacturing to deliver a level of performance that is nothing short of sensational. So, if youre after a board thats going to give you class-leading performance without the all or nothing performance youd typically associate with this kind of board, then the new Thunder could just be the snowboard youre looking for.Rider Style: All Mountain Freeride experienced riders who are looking for a high performance freeride board that can tackle even the most extreme terrain.Shape Overview: Fully DirectionalThe Thunder is built around an advanced tapered directional shape. This delivers a solid and stable ride with an enhanced float in the powder, easy turn initiation and exit as well as a predictable overall feel. Performance in the powder is even further enhanced with the longer freeride specific nose and tail profiles which add lift at the front of the board and sink at the tail. However, for what is a fully directional freeride board, the Thunder still feels pretty balanced to ride thanks to the minimal (1cm) amount of setback. This gives it that more progressive feel for when you just want to cruise around without compromising any of the Thunders hard-charging attitude.Profile: Freeride 3BT with Dynamic CamberAs with the rest of the Bataleon range, its the unique Freeride 3BT shape with SideKicks technology that sets the Thunder apart from its competitors. This directional shape has a narrow centre base with more side base uplift area and angle in the nose than in the tail. That narrow centre base generates swift edge-to-edge transfer and works in perfect harmony with the traditional camber to ensure that not only do you have a board that turns easier and with more stability but you also have a board that is super happy when you want to charge around. Also, that more pronounced side base gives unrivalled levels of lift and float at the nose underpinning the true all-terrain nature of this stunning snowboard.Side KicksSideKick increases the side base uplift just outside the widest part of the nose and tail, making turn initiation smoother, increasing float in powder and improves the handling of the board in rough terrain.ConstructionInternally, the Thunder utilises Bataleons high-end construction and heading this up is the new Light Core. Combining an even mix of poplar and paulownia, it delivers the perfect balance of lightweight, durability and high performance. To this, Bataleon then adds their state of the art D.S.T (Dual Super Tube) Technology. This places two hollow carbon rods into milled out channels on the base of the core, stepping up pop as well as powering up the camber for more snap and drive. Now to give the Thunder its powerful and responsive ride, the structural layers are formed from torsionally reactive tri-ax glass. This creates a stable and solid ride that inspires total confidence at even the highest speeds. Now to step up response and power even further, Bataleon adds carbon V beams running from the front inserts to just below the contact points in the nose and from the rear inserts to either side of the tail. This combination gives lightning-fast turn initiation with a powerful and dynamic drive out the back of the board.BaseTo ensure that the Thunder delivers excellent performance in any conditions Bataleon utilises their Hyper Glide S base. This durable sintered base material is super-fast and super tough.Float Surface: 158 = 72 161 = 75 162w = 77New for this season on all Bataleon Boards is the Float-Surface rating. This measurement is calculated via a complex equation that takes into account surface area, nose and tail profile and set back. This then gives you a rating on how the board lifts and floats in powder, giving you a real comparison between the new generation of short, wide board against a traditional snowboard. Float surface starts at 50 for the lowest-rated board and goes up to 96 for the highest-rated board
